Tax revenue increased by Rs 100 billion


Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake informed the cabinet meeting that the revenue of the government’s taxes has increased by Rs.100 billion during the first six moths of this year, Cabinet Co-spokesman, Minister of Parliamentary Reforms and Mass Media Gayantha Karunathilake said that the cabinet briefing held at the Information Department, yesterday.

According to the minister this is considered a 20 percent increase of the government’s tax income.

The outstanding institutions, which have reported the highest tax income during this period, are the Inland Revenue Department, Excise Department, and the Sri Lanka Customs.

Cabinet Co-spokesman, Minister of Health, Nutrition, and Indigenous Medicine Rajitha Senarathne pointed out that the tax revenue, which was less during the previous period due to not following the due process has now increased under the new government since no politician disturbs the procedure of those institutions.
