Over 350,000 Grade five students will sit for the Scholarship Examination which is to be held at 2,959 examination centers island-wide today.
Examinations Department Commissioner General W M N J Pushpakumara said around 28,000 staff members have been deployed for the exam duties in all centers.
The scholarship examination will be held in two sessions today. The 45-minute first paper of the exam would begin at 9.30am and the 75-minute second paper is scheduled to commence at 10.45am.
Students have been requested to wear their index number on the left side of their uniforms, and parents have been advised not to enter the examination halls.
Commissioner General has requested all parents and candidates to be fully aware of the examination and the interval times. He also stressed that parents as well as external parties will be disallowed from entering the exam premises.
Issues pertaining to the examination can be directed via the Examinations Department hotline 1911 or the Police emergency number 119 or by reaching the Police Headquarters, he added.
Meanwhile, The Examinations Department said the Grade 5 scholarship examination paper will be considered as a confidential document even after the examination.
Issuing a special statement Examinations Commissioner General stated that possess or photocopy the examination paper and to sell a photocopy of the examination paper is prohibited.
Circulating or publishing the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination paper in papers or magazines is also prohibited.
The general public has been requested to report any party who violates the orders to the nearest police station, the police headquarters or the Examinations Department.
