The 5th ministerial meeting of countries belonging to the Colombo Process will be held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena at the Galle Face Hotel tomorrow (August 25)
Sri Lanka is the current chair of the Colombo Process and accordingly Foreign Employment Minister Thalatha Athukorale is the incumbent chairperson.
This year’s meeting will be held on the theme “International Labour Migration for Prosperity, Value Addition Through Collective Action”, a press release by the Foreign Employment Ministry said.
The 11 countries holding membership in the Colombo Process are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.
The institutions hosting the Colombo Process are the International Organisation of Migration (IMO) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Co-operation (SDC). the Colombo Process Secretariat is situated in Sri Lanka.
