Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Ministry is making arrangements to introduced new rules and regulations to prevent fishermen from dumping garbage into the seas.
The fishermen who are going to fishing in the multi-day fishing boats used to throw waste into the sea as they have to spend number of days in the seas. But it cause to the marine pollution and it should be banned, State Minister for Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Dileep Wedaarachchi said.
Accordingly he has instructed the Director General of Fisheries Department Christy Lal Fernando to take immediate actions to introduce new rules and regulations with regard.
The state minister has already instructed the Director General to set up a systematic procedure to put the new rules and regulations into action with the assistance of Sri Lanka Navy.
