Two Iranian nationals surrendered to the police over a theft


Police have arrested two Iranian nationals over a theft in Wennappuwa. The police said that two persons who had been identified as Ironian nationals had stolen foreign currency worth nearly Rs. 600, 000 from a foreign currency exchange centre in Wennappuwa. They have been arrested by the police in the last night. The suspects who have entered the foreign currency exchange centre on August 10 saying that they wanted to exchange some foreign currency had committed the theft and fled the area. They have surrendered to the Wennappuwa police last night on the instructions of the officials of the Iranian embassy in Colombo. Wennappuwa police is conducting further investigations.
