Higher Education and Highways Minister Lakshman Kiriella said that construction work of three new highways are to be commenced in January, 2017 and they will connect all parts of the country.
Issuing a statement today, Minister Kiriella said Colombo-Kandy (Stage II), Colombo-Ratnapura and Kurunegala-Dambulla-Trincomalee – Jaffna Highways would be constructed under this scheme.
“Investors have approached us and have accepted to develop the provinces one by one. China has stepped forward to develop Hambantota while Singapore has expressed their interest to develop Trincomalee. Kandy will be developed by Japan”, the minister said.
