The all Ceylon Lottery Dealers Association (ACLDA) yesterday threatened to withdraw from sales if the government decides to increase the price of a lottery from Rs. 20 to Rs. 30.
Earlier, there was speculation that the tickets issued by both the National Lotteries Board (NLB) and the Development Lotteries Board (DLB) will be increased by Rs.10.
Reports said that the Finance Ministry was contemplating increasing lottery prices in a bid to cover losses and increase profits of both NLB and DLB.
However, the ACLDA had yesterday expressed fears that a price increase will see sales going down in a big way. The ACLDA had said they were contemplating an agitation campaign to show dissent against any move to increase lottery ticket prices.
