The report prepared by a group of scientists of the University of Peradeniya on the Meethotamulla garbage dump disaster in mid-April was handed over to police by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Upul B. Dissanayake on Tuesday 06.
Prof. Dissanayake said the report contained the findings of a scientific study of the disaster.
Dr. Jayalath Edirisinghe, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, who headed the team of scientists, said the disaster had been studied from 12 angles.
The study had been conducted in compliance with a government request, Dr. Edirisinghe said.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Manoj Perera, receiving the report at a meeting at the Engineering Faculty of the University of Peradeniya, said that the the findings by the expert team were required for legal purposes.
The report would be submitted to the courts, he added.
