A doctor died on Saturday in Badureliya when he tried to take a selfie with a waterfall in the background. He was standing on a boulder outside the public viewing area at the time of the incident. He has been identified as T. Dissanayake.
The victim was a member of a group of doctors undergoing a Tamil language course at the National Institute of Language Education and Training. The participants of the program had gone to Badureliya to view the picturesque waterfall, police said.
The victim’s body was recovered yesterday morning.
Police said all visitors were warned against going near the waterfall as the area was slippery, but the victim had disregarded the warning.
